Our Story
In 1991, Pat Pinjuv made a bold decision that would change the course of his life—and the landscape of Northern Nevada. Feeling constrained by his previous job where leadership was stacked with family ties, Pat took a leap of faith and founded Pinecrest Construction & Development Co., surprising his wife Pam, who was a stay-at-home mom to their three young children and in the middle of building their family home.
The name “Pinecrest” was inspired by the breathtaking beauty of the Lake Tahoe region and the Sierra Nevada mountains, symbolizing the company’s deep roots in the area they love.
Pat’s first projects were humble but meaningful—a custom home in Galena Forest followed by an assisted living facility. In those early days, Pinecrest was truly a family operation, with Pat juggling everything from bidding and client relations to supervision and bookkeeping. Grateful for the help of his wife, Pam. The company started out of their home before moving to a small shared office, growing steadily as Pat built a reputation for quality and trust.
Breaking into a market dominated by larger firms like Q&D wasn’t easy. Winning over clients and proving that Pinecrest could handle bigger, more complex projects was a major challenge. A turning point came when Pat and Pam took on their first self-storage project, acting as both builder and developer. This bold step involved borrowing money with little business history behind them, but it paved the way for future success.
Among Pinecrest’s standout projects is the BMW/Porsche/Volkswagen dealership—a highly complex build that tested the company’s skill and attention to detail under the strict requirements of multiple manufacturers. But it’s not just about buildings—Pinecrest’s heart lies in community. The expansion of St. Peter’s Church, Reno’s fastest-growing parish, stands as one of their proudest accomplishments. Pinecrest donated over $500,000 to the project and lent its expertise to a cause deeply valued by many employees and parishioners alike.
The next chapter began in 2009 when Ryan Pinjuv, Pat and Pam’s son, joined the family business. Bringing fresh energy and vision, Ryan helped launch Pinecrest’s solar division and managed numerous significant projects. With a Master of Finance degree from the University of Nevada, earned in 2012, Ryan expanded the company’s strategic reach and operational depth.
Today, under Ryan’s leadership, Pinecrest has grown to a team of over 60 employees, carrying forward the founding values of quality craftsmanship, integrity, and community connection. From a small, one-man operation to a trusted Northern Nevada construction leader, Pinecrest continues to build more than structures—it builds lasting relationships and a legacy that will endure for generations to come.
